The Broadalbin-Perth Jr./Sr. High School Drama Club has spent the last four months preparing for their spring musical production of “Annie,” which will be available to view online at 7 p.m. Friday, May 7 and Saturday, May 8.

Streaming tickets are available for purchase online at  https://www.showtix4u.com/events/BPDramaAnnie

A “Household Pass” will cost $20 (plus applicable fees) and allow a person to stream the pre-recorded show at 7 p.m. on either May 7 or May 8. A “Video on Demand” option (also $20 plus applicable fees) will be available from Sunday, May 9 to Sunday, June 6, allowing patrons to watch the video as many times as they would like for a 48-hour period.

Each ticket purchaser will be sent a unique passcode that will grant them access to stream the show. All proceeds will benefit the B-P Jr./Sr. High School Drama Club.

the cast of "Annie" acts out a scene set on the streets of New York City, on the B-P stage.

Co-directors Rita Swatt and Michael Ott, who both teach at B-P Senior High School, said they are extremely proud of the work their theater students put into this year’s show.

“This was a longer season than previous years because of some lost rehearsal time when school shifted to remote instruction, but our students were resilient,” Ott said. “They learned how to be flexible without settling for less than their best.”

Swatt and Ott had to expand their directing skill set this year to include more technology, videography, and editing.

We really found value in filming the scenes and it ended up being a very helpful tool for the students. Both cast and crew were able to receive feedback and assess what needed to be tweaked for the final recorded version,” Ott said.

characters in the show Annie are shown on a set made to look like the streets of New York City, singing a song while holding suitcases.

Ott said they tried filming scenes from several different locations in the auditorium and settled on placing the camera right in the front row, which allowed them to “get closer to the action and pan/zoom to follow the actors.”

“Everyone will have a front-row seat this year,” Ott said.

Both the cast and crew of “Annie” learned the importance of rolling with the punches and adapting to changes they had no control over.

“This year offered some challenges, but there was no way we were not going to have a show for our kids,” Swatt said.
